My husband and I are very grateful to Dr Li Rui for everything she has done for us. We initially sought her help to condition our bodies and improve our health while preparing for pregnancy. Within just a few months of follow-up visits and treatments, our efforts saw results, and we could clearly feel the continuous improvement in our physical condition with every visit. For me, Dr Li Rui’s treatment also effectively relieved discomfort symptoms during pregnancy, such as morning sickness, loss of appetite, and constipation. We wholeheartedly recommend Dr Li Rui’s services—she is very patient, dedicated, and meticulous. We feel very fortunate to have met and chosen her for our care.
I had a great experience at Shanghai Chinese Medical Centre. Dr Li Rui is very experienced in TCM treatment, and her acupuncture technique is highly professional. I previously suffered from severe erosive gastritis, and after a few treatments, my symptoms have significantly improved. Mr. Chen was also very friendly, warm, and provided thoughtful service. Many thanks to Dr Li Rui and Mr. Chen; I will definitely recommend this clinic to my friends and colleagues.
After getting married, we tried to conceive but were unsuccessful. My husband and I went to KK Hospital for a Western medical check-up. The scan revealed an ovarian cyst, and surgery was required to remove it. After the surgery, we continued with Western medical consultations. After two years of waiting, there was still no sign of pregnancy. Later, by chance, I read an article by Dr Li Rui in the newspaper regarding TCM conditioning for infertility. My husband and I decided to give it a try. After meeting Dr Li Rui, her professionalism and care for patients made us even more determined. After six months of acupuncture and TCM herbal conditioning, I finally became pregnant! We are extremely grateful to Dr Li Rui. My daughter is now 8 years old. We have returned to see Dr Li Rui, hoping to conceive once again.
I have been seeing the physician for body conditioning since the clinic first opened in 2004. Even now, I still come back for regular conditioning, primarily for health maintenance, and because of my trust in the physician.
I came to see the physician this January. At that time, the ring finger of my left hand had been in severe pain for quite a while. Sometimes my finger would feel stiff, numb, and weak, making it difficult to bend or extend. I also told the physician that I have suffered from hypertension for many years and have been taking Western medicine to control it. However, my blood pressure was not well-controlled, with readings around 150+- / 90+-. My Western doctor told me that my dosage might need to be increased soon for better control. I was worried about the side effects of Western medicine, so while treating my finger, I also asked for TCM conditioning to lower my blood pressure. I hoped that if my condition improved by my next Western medical follow-up, I could avoid increasing the dosage. I am very happy to share that my blood pressure is now around 130+- / 80+-. For my age, this is very ideal. With continuous TCM treatment, the pain and stiffness in my ring finger stopped bothering me by mid-March. Thank you, physician. God bless you.
After undergoing this TCM herbal and acupuncture weight loss process, I am now a 100% supporter of TCM. I not only successfully reached my personal weight loss goal but also regained my health. My whole body feels much lighter.
I am very glad I came to Shanghai Chinese Medical Centre and met Dr Li Rui. I had visited Western medical clinics and hospitals many times for my issue without seeing any results. Finally, I tried TCM conditioning. I am so happy I made the right choice; my health has improved significantly. I will continue my conditioning because Dr Li Rui is a responsible and excellent physician. Thank you, Shanghai Chinese Medical Centre!
Because I am from Shanghai, I felt a sense of kinship with Dr Li Rui. She frequently shows concern for other aspects of her patients’ lives and is very easygoing and approachable. The reception staff is also very warm and attentive, which reduced my previous fear of medical visits and gave me more confidence to work with the physician to heal. Thank you very much!

Frequently Asked Questions About TCM Treatments in Singapore
Are there side effects from consuming Chinese herbs?
When prescribed properly by a licensed TCM physician, Chinese herbs are generally safe. However, some individuals may experience mild side effects like digestive discomfort. It’s important to follow your physician’s instructions and report any unusual reactions promptly.
Can TCM treatments provide Medical Certificates (MC)?
Licensed TCM physicians in Singapore can issue Medical Certificates where appropriate. However, acceptance of TCM MCs by employers may vary, so we recommend checking with your company’s HR policies.
How are the costs for TCM treatments determined?
Treatment costs depend on several factors, including the complexity of the condition, the type of therapy required, and the duration of treatment. During your consultation, we will provide a transparent explanation of all fees involved before proceeding.
If I do not speak or understand Mandarin, will it pose an issue when seeking TCM consultations?
No problem at all. Consultations can be conducted in English, and Dr. Li is fluent in both Mandarin and English. We ensure every patient understands their diagnosis and treatment plan fully.
Do all prescribed Chinese medicines require brewing?
Not always. At TCM Shanghai, we often prescribe herbal medicine in convenient powdered sachets. Patients simply dissolve the powder in hot water and drink, avoiding the hassle of traditional brewing.
How do Chinese medical centres ensure the quality and safety of their treatments?
Licensed TCM clinics in Singapore operate under the regulations of the Ministry of Health. Qualified physicians are registered with the TCM Practitioners Board and adhere to strict standards of practice. In our clinic, herbal medicines are sourced from reputable suppliers and prepared according to safety guidelines to ensure quality and efficacy.

Some health insurance plans in Singapore may offer partial coverage for TCM consultations or treatments, especially under complementary healthcare benefits. However, coverage varies between insurers and plans. It’s advisable to check with your insurance provider for specific details.
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and how does it work?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic medical system developed over thousands of years.
